Prohibition Dead talk about the French rock scene and recently-released EP!

Picture: Credit to the photographer Hello, Prohibition Dead! Thanks for taking time to answer a couple of questions for us. Would you mind introducing your band to our readers? Hello, thanks you for having us. We are Prohibition Dead, we play a mix between Stoner Rock, Garage, Dirty Blues and some classical Rock stuffs. We are three: Fab is the lead singer and guitarist, Benoît 16 the other guitarist and Phil plays drums. The particularity of our band is the lack of bass player. We split the guitar signal between a guitar amp and a bass amp to have the heavy low frequencies that we need! How would you describe the French rock scene from a global POV? Well, it’s a wide question… There’s a lot of very good Rock bands in France but Rock music is very underground here. No rock music on FM Radio, no electric guitars…. Do you know what I mean? You have to struggle every day to find a gig. You need to spend a lot of time on internet to promote your band and have a chance to meet the guy or girl who will help you. But, maybe, it’s the same things in every country. Rock music was born as rebel music and it became very popular with the advent of huge rock stars. Now, it’s back again, underground music for rebels, and it’s not bad… You've recently unveiled your new EP, “Unless You're Afraid to Change”. How was your writing process for this release? Well, it’s our second release. We have recorded our first LP two years ago and some songs have been set aside. Fab had some pieces of new songs and we wanted to give some new stuffs to people who follow us. So, we have decided to record an EP last summer in our personal studio “Studio Mesure 17”. It was written, produced and recorded at home with a six-pack to help us (or two, I don’t remember)! If you had to pick one song that, according to you, best reflects the spirit of this EP... Which one would it be and why? Ouch, it’s difficult for us to pick a song from the EP. It very different from a song to another. There’s a lot of influence and all of them are very particular for us but, if we had to pick one, we’d say “Corona Girl”, the second one. This song is about a trip in Vegas and it’s an awesome souvenir for everyone here! And the guitar riff is insane! It rocks and it’s a song really cool to play live! How long have you worked on this EP? The writing process and pre-producing was finished in maybe three months and we’ve taken one to record the 6 songs. The mix was done in a week by Christian “Wind” Lang in his Swiss studio. Do you currently have any other projects in the making? Yes, we are preparing a video for “Corona Girl” and we are searching gigs for a tour next spring. We hope to bring our rock shows wherever people want to hear us. The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey, here’s your chance! We are Prohibition Dead, we are a rock band and we make the only thing that we can do. Playing rock n’ roll without questions and share it with people who wants to hear something different. Join us, come to our shows, have a good time with us and let the rock n’ roll resonate!
