PENSE talk about their collaboration with Mud Cake Records!

Hello, PENSE! Thanks for taking time to answer a couple of questions for us. How are you guys doing? Hey Valentine, we're great! We just returned from our first European tour and it was an amazing experience! How would you describe the Brazilian melodic hardcore scene? In Brazil we mix a lot of bands and styles. It is common to play along with metal bands, aggressive hardocre, pop music or other various rock styles. So it's hard to describe just the melodic hardcore scene. We currently have an independent music scene regardless of the style of each band. Thinking like this, we are living a good time. We have many talented bands. I think we're in an evolutionary process with more people coming back to be interested in independent music, which is great! You've teamed up with our friends at Mud Cake Records to re-release your 2018 album, “Realidade, Vida E Fé” for the first time on Vinyl. How's the collaboration going and who, within the band, got this awesome idea? Actually the idea came from Mud Cake Records. They got in touch and we love the idea. It's an old dream to have one of our albums released on vinyl. The Mud Cake folks have been so loving and caring about everything that we can't wait to hold this vinyl in our hands. Which song is the one that, according to you, best represents the spirit of your album? It is very difficult to choose a single song. Every time we like more than one song or another. Thinking about the lyrics and musical theme that the album has, I believe that Utopia represents very well everything we want in this album. Because the lyrics speak about a change of inner attitude that surrounds the whole album. And musically, it mixes all the elements we like to have in our songs. I’m sure you have at least one funny story from your recording sessions to share with us! We are very lucky that our lead singer is an audio engineer and has had the opportunity to do the entire recording, mixing and mastering process in his studio. This gave us the freedom and especially the time needed to do everything very calmly and carefully. Recording the choirs is always a lot of fun. In this album we had help from about 30 friends. Everyone crammed into the recording room, sweating a lot because it was summer and it was very hot. We had to record some parts and get out of the room to get some breathing. I’m a huge fan of your album’s artwork. Can you let us know the story behind this visual? The artist responsible for the cover art is called Felipe Protski Martins. About the theme behind the art, all the lyrics on the album were written from our perception of the world (Reality), experience (Life), and belief (Faith). Reality can be considered as an external factor in the sense that it is constructed by absorbing our senses into the world around us. Already the experience is something created from our interaction as an individual with this perception of reality. So it is internal, in the sense that what I consider real may be real for you too, but my life experience is only mine. And as much as it may be shared, it will always be nontransferable. Belief, or what we call Faith, is an abstract construction of what we absorb from the world (Reality) and what we experience (Life). It is not tangible and does not depend on what is material to exist. These three words, Reality, Life and Faith are represented on the face drawn by the artist.

Do you currently have any other projects in the making? We keep playing as many shows as we can. We also have a new video clip that is already recorded and will be released in the coming months. The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey, here’s your chance! Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to talk about our band. It is very important for us to be able to talk to new people who do not know our band and also to people who already know and have the opportunity to know more about us.
