French rockers FRENT talk about their new album “Alan Morse”!

Hello, FRENT! Thanks for taking time to answer a couple of questions for us. Would you mind introducing your band to our readers? We’ve been around the Parisian music stage for over a decade. The band saw many musicians come and go but two founding members are still playing, from the very beginning of Frent up to this day: Franck and Thomas. Our music style is mainly indie rock with a touch of pop on the tunes. Yet, we often tackle dark subjects like in the New Wave songs of the 1980s. How would you describe the French rock scene? Very Indy and low key today. Average-size concert halls mostly play specific music styles. They mainly target a niche audience; it is very unusual to hear good mainstream music nowadays. It rapidly turns to sweet pop music. FRENT tries to fill the gap between these two universes. You have just released your new album, titled “Alan Morse”. Would you mind introducing this new release? We wanted our third album to be a concept record. We tell the story of Alan Morse who was a very odd character. He should have his own Wikipedia page! Each song captures a key moment of his life. “When I was 10”, our first single, is about the brainiac kid he was. -iGTHDE1cN7w How long have you worked on this record? A few months just to write the lyrics but the whole process took two years. We have our own label (LIP RECORDS) and we try to make everything by ourselves, but we sometimes reach our limits... If you had to pick one song that, according to you, best reflects the spirit of this album... Which one would it be and why? “The Two Morse” without a doubt! The schizophrenia of the character combined with the dubious mix of reggae and pop makes it very original. We should release the video in a few months. We just need to find the right look to match the song. -Q Do you currently have any other projects in the making? We are planning to release a new LP by June but our top priority is live music. We want to tour with that album everywhere possible in Paris and in France if we get the chance... We're just coming back from a summer tour around Bordeaux and we can’t wait to get back on the road! The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey, here’s your chance! I find it really hard to survive in the music business of today. We are not indie enough for some, not big enough to have rotations on major radios. But we are free our so is our music. Everything is still possible and for our third album Frent is still hungry... and we want rock music! Thanks for your time!
