    Whist

WHIST is the ferocious enthusiasm, the carelessness of big children fiercely opposed to the concept of maturity.

On stage, their good communicative humor will not fail to stick on your face a smile that you will have a hard time getting rid of. Far from taking itself seriously, the young Lyon quintet returns the music to what it should be above all: fun in its purest form. A good dose of disconnection, a positive energy discharge, always refreshing and never boring.

With three EPs to their credit, the members of the 'WHIST Gang', with five years of experience playing locally, now want to move to the next level and share their music to as many people. The adventure is just beginning!

  • The Order of Chaos

    The Order of Chaos

Chaos and Order, two seemingly opposing forces that, when observed closely enough, work together subtly to create art in its most divine form. Enter The Order of Chaos, a highly regarded and well-respected heavy metal group from the rural northern wastelands of Alberta Canada. For the last 12 years, trudging through the snow covered Canadian landscape, and touring the vast expanses of Europe and China, this band has cut its teeth in the most demanding gigging environment this side of the equator. The band continues to bring their unique, fresh and well developed sound to a genre of music so saturated with sound-a-likes, 80s throwbacks and copy cats. After years of dedication to their art and hard work in the music industry, The Order of Chaos has cemented themselves as one of Canada’s premier metal artists. In 2013, the band was awarded Heavy Metal Recording of the year for their 2nd full length album entitled “Burn These Dreams”. Their extensive activities and efforts in the music industry has brought Edmonton into the heavy metal spotlight nationally and across the globe highlighting the diversity and quality found within the Edmonton arts community.

With three (3) albums and one (1) EP under their belt, the band has the experience needed to unleash a convincing torrent of brand new material that will redefine genres and carve a path no heavy metal band has even attempted to produce. Meet Amanda Kiernan, a hurricane of live intensity and energy unmatched by her peers. From soaring melodic choruses to gritty, in your face thrash she doesn’t let up for a moment. Her unique take on metal vocals and prowess as a hybrid singer has affirmed her place in metal history. Backed by the duelling guitar virtuosity of John Simon Fallon and John Saturley, and the brick wall rhythm section of Barrett Klesko and Tim Prevost, this band is something that must truly be seen to be believed.

In September of 2012, after signing a management and booking agency deal with Red Lion Music (Germany), The Order of Chaos made their first appearance overseas, stunning 2000+ fans at the Turock Open Air Festival and thousands more in clubs across central Europe. Just seven months later they returned to Europe with the Bay Area thrash legends “Vicious Rumors” supporting them on their Electric Punishment Tour, gaining many new fans and quickly securing a solid reputation as a phenomenal live act to behold. In 2015 the band continued to establish this foundation with a tour as direct support for Nuclear Blast Records’ up and coming “A-List” band “Battle Beast.” The visibility gained on this tour lead to the band being offered an all tour in China including a headlining appearance at China’s largest music festival (MIDI Festival) in front of 15,000+ fans.

With the future looking bright, the determination to continue succeed, and the creative talent to put forth a fresh sound for heavy metal lovers everywhere, The Order of Chaos is primed for an assault on stages, and headbangers everywhere with the release of their new EP.

    Round Eye

Round Eye, the experimental, sax wielding, freak punk outfit have accrued quite a loud and controversial name for themselves since forming in 2012. The Shanghai based group have shown no mercy nor fatigue in sound development or work ethic and are a crucial force in bridging a wide gap between the eastern and western hemispheres of DIY punk rock. Along with blazing a trail all over the globe they’ve  played host to visiting western punks and some legends as well sharing stages with acts such as The Fleshtones, MDC, Mike Watt + The Missingmen, D.O.A., The FUs, The Boys (UK), Paul Collins Beat, M.O.T.O., Ceremony, Iceage, and eastern notables such as P.K.14, SMZB, SUBS, Hang on the Box, members of Carsick Cars and Joyside  and Misandao and during a mainland tour of China with UK punk legends The Boys, they were forced to literally move the tour underground after being banned by the Ministry of Culture for lewd artwork on a tour poster. VICE magazine documented one of their ‘bunker’ gigs in Beijing in glorious baijiu filled detail.

They’ve won the “Best Local Band” title from Shanghai’s City Weekend magazine two years in a row. They’ve released several acclaimed music videos: “Suntan” starring famed Chinese actress Wang Lin (Xue Yi), best known for her role in the Chinese soap opera Romance in the Rain and appearances in Academy Award winning Ang Lee films such as Lust / Caution), the politically and critically charged nightmare “Billy” and “Sifter” which was entirely filmed in Pyongyang North Korea making it the very first punk video ever filmed in the DPRK. They’ve played numerous festivals around the world and honed their unconventional blend of 50s R&B, Free Jazz and Punk with a critically acclaimed EP Full Circle on Ripping Records which featured Greg Ginn (Black Flag), LP Round Eye which featured Steve Mackay (Iggy Pop & the Stooges, Violent Femmes) & Lo-fi legend R. Stevie Moore, and released their sophomore LP, Monstervision, on Joey Shithead of DOA’s Vancouver-based Sudden Death Records. This album was recorded by Li Wei Yu & PK 14’s Yang Haisong, narrated by former The Daily Show comedian John Bloom (Joe Bob Briggs),  and is the last recordings laid to wax of the late great Steve Mackay.

They have drawn comparisons to the Stooges, Captain Beefheart, Dr. Feelgood and The Fall but have more often fallen into a category all their own.

    LINE UP

Stein Akslen : Vocals, guitar, bass, Keyboards

    BIOGRAPHY

Norwegian Romantic Black Metal band Minneriket is the work of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Stein Akslen, who created the project for as much a philosophical and spiritual channeling as a musical outlet. Drawing on influences as various as punk and goth yet steeped in the intensity of the early Norwegian Black Metal scene, Minneriket came into existence in 2014.

Akslen has a profound grasp of his own pagan past and a brooding personal darkness that together let his art will itself to life. Prior to the birth of Minneriket, Akslen saw successful collaborations with the bands Blodsgard and Vakslen, as well as the solo black art expressionism of V0id&Khaos.

Akslen has built Minneriket in his own image, shunning the formulaic predictability often prevalent in today’s watered-down “safe” Black Metal. Honest and real, reflecting both self and society, knocking down barriers and ignoring taboos, Minneriket breathes new life into the genre in a completely uncompromising manner.

Minneriket exists in the realm of memories both past and future, transcendent of the worldly and the profane. 2015 saw the release of the debut album “Vargtimen”, followed in 2016 by “Stjerner, speil, og svartebøker…” and in 2017 the Burzum tribute “From the Veins of a Nearly Dead Boy”, which officially received inclusion on the Vikernes Burzum website. The dawn of 2018 will see the unleashing of the latest album “Anima Sola”.
