Punk rockers Annabelle talk about releasing debut album
It's always nice to get to know more about new bands, and especially about the music scene abroad. I got the chance to exchange with the band Annabelle, to talk, among other things, about the band's forthcoming debut album!
Hello Annabelle, thank you so much for taking time to chat with us, here, at Distrolution. First of all, could you please introduce your band to our readers and tell us what your roles in it are? Hi Valentine, before everything, we wanted to thank you for this interview! Annabelle is an Argentinian pop punk band with influences from New Found Glory, Man Overboard, Neck Deep, Blink-182, Story So Far, Four Year Strong, Descendents, etc. Currently, Annabelle consists of four members: Rodrigo (Guitar and vocals), Matías (Guitar and chorus), Lisandro (Bass and chorus) and Tomas (Drums). You're soon going to record your new album in a studio. Can you tell us more about it? What kind of songs can we expect for this release? How different are they going to be from your previous album 'Las Buenas Historias Siempre Quedan'? That’s a nice question! We really like to talk about what’s coming, because we can’t wait to show the new things we made. We’ve been working so much on this album, while for our EP (Las Buenas Historias Siempre Quedan), that we recorded 2 years ago, we took influences from bands like Good Charlotte or Blink-182. Those are the bands that we listened to during our childhood… In this new allbum, we wanted a modern sound, something more aggressive like New Found Glory or the new up and coming bands like Neck Deep, The Story So Far, Four Year Strong. And always keeping the roots, for us, Blink-182 made everything and we always have some of their songs prepared for our shows. Besides this upcoming release, do you have any other projects in the making (music video, photoshoots, tour...)? If yes, can you tell us more about it? Valentine, I think that if you invite us to release our album in France, then we don’t doubt it! Haha. To answer your question, there’s actually a lot of desire to do everything and it’s what we’re planning since we decided to record our album. We will finally enter the studio, in a few days, to record it! On the other hand, we also have a million things in our head. And well, the idea is that they don’t remain in nothing. We want to be able to do everything we have been talking about since we have been participating in shows that are important to us. The idea is to continue with this compromise and the desire to keep growing up. Let's talk about the punk rock music scene in Argentina. How would you describe it? Do you feel like it's a good place for your kind of music, or do you think that there's still some improvements to do? The reality is that it changed a lot and it’s something that is being talked about all the time! In the past, the people who went to shows stayed all night long drinking, talking to friends and listening to every band from the begining to the end. Now, I don’t now if the word is "regrettable", but the fact that it’s not the same anymore for the people who were like that years ago, worries me. As of today, people go to see a band that they like and maybe they just listen to support band, which is what they need. If we don’t support the bands that are starting, how does this continue? Nowadays, it is easier to download an album from internet instead of buying it directly from the band that is starting. Or from which they have the possibility of being sold live. I also think that it’s not only in Argentina! I also heard about this from Brett of Bad Religion in a documentary of Pennywise. Finally, Distrolution is mainly based in Lille, France. Does any of your band members have ever visited our country? No, we never had the chance to travel to France, but we would love to do it! And like we said before, if you invite us to release our album there, then we don’t doubt it! [caption id="attachment_5830" align="alignnone" width="700"]
