Pop rockers Kristel talk about their debut album, “Irony”!

Kristel is a young pop rock band from Madagascar. I got the chance to interview them to talk about their debut album, titled “Irony”. Check out what they had to say below! Kristel
Hello guys. Hope you're doing great? First of all, thanks for taking time to chat with me. For those who are not familiar with your band, could you please introduce yourselves, as well as your roles in Kristel? Hi! We're fine and it's a pleasure for us. Christelle: Singer and bass , composer and writer as well. Andry Sylvano: Drums but also make samples and composer too. BenKheli: Guitarist and composer. You released back in August 2018 your debut album, titled “Irony”. Would you mind introducing this release to our readers? “Irony” is our first album and we are talking especially about our country “Madagascar”. Madagascar has a great natural and cultural wealth.  Unfortunately most of Malagasy people don't have access to that and 80% (maybe more) are poor and live in the misery. For us, it's an ironic situation. We must talk about it. So we decided to call this 1st album “Irony”.
How were the writing and recording process for this album? The album process: For a long time , the band wanted to release an album but we didn't have all resources to make this as we wanted. In 2017, we played at the “Libertalia Festival (in Madagascar)”, which is a record company too “Libertalia Music”. After our performence, we decided to work together. Talking about many projects, we were focus on the 1st album. It was just like a dream come true for us so we worked on it preciously (like our baby) and we finished the recording in 1 week. Christelle wrote the songs and all of us composed and arranged them. Some songs of this album was composed 5 years ago and others 1 month before or during a rehearsal before the recording. We think that the process was just a little bit weird but we did this with our souls and our hearts... If you had to pick one track off of this record, which one would you choose and why? Ooooh, it’s so hard... But first, IRONY (I’ve already explained on the second question). And this song shows some part of us on live that even us didn’t know the existence, and we can’t explain...
Second one, MASOANDRO (it means THE SUN) talking about the sadness when the sun is caught by the clouds. And a few weeks ago our daddy passed away, it was very difficult. The song really describe this feeling even if he was alive when we composed and wrote this song. We will always dedicate this song to him cause he gave us this music legacy!
How would you describe your sound, from a global point of view? In our mind, it is inexplicable... Music is inexplicable. The most important is to touch souls, hearts, minds of all people. That’s why we do / love music. In certain manner, it’s our goal: To impact positively people! Last but not least, what would you say has been the biggest highlight of your band’s career so far? All of them, each moment is an important and special moment. Thanks for your time!
