Meet the French rockers, Green Lake!

Artwork: Came, aka Roy de Rat Hello Green Lake. Thanks for taking time to chat with us. Would you mind introducing your band to our readers? Green Lake is a Rock band from Lyon (more or less). We can say that we are heavily influenced by several rock band from the grunge era of the 90’s like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in chains or Sound Garden. For those who have never heard your songs before, how would you describe your universe? In our compositions, we can find different ambiances and moods. We like really straight and efficient rock songs and some more atmospheric stuff. We try to make every song has its own personality and at the same time be consistent with all the other songs. One other aspect is the will of mixing melodies and dissonances in almost all the songs. You've dropped back in June a music video for “Dark Shape”. What's the story behind this song? Dark Shape is kind of abstract. We can’t say there is a real narative behind it. It talks about a “dark shape” which is not really clearly defined but can be the materialisations of fears, regrets, sins. Something which constantly follows you so that you must deal with it if you don’t want to lose your mind. How was the music video shooting experience? Great. It was a totally new thing for us! We had to play the song over and over while listening to the record. The creative part was all for the director (Oram Danreuther) and we let him guide us. We're very proud of the result. This song is off of your debut EP “Joy”, out since 2020. Are you guys currently working on a new release? No, but we are heavily thinking about it. The pandemic had all of our upcoming concert canceled and that is maybe the good time to record the rest of the songs we have. I’m sure you are, like a lot of people, missing live shows. Do you already have some dates planned for 2021 or 2022? We are waiting for dates to be confirmed for the end of the year and in 2022 but it is not easy because of the COVID. It's still fuggy. For now, we know that in 2022, we will be performing at the Wanagain Festival at Clenay near Dijon on april 23th 2022. We will be opening for Seven Weeks, a great french band we are found of. The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey, here’s your chance! We are starving to play live. Hope we’ll see you at our next show. Thanks for your time!
