Magoyond talk about their latest single “L'armée Damnée”!

Aspic from Magoyond took some time to answer a couple of questions for us! Check out what he had to say about the band's latest single “L'armée Damnée” and their reissue of “Pandemia”! Magoyond
Hello, Magoyond! Thanks for taking time to answer a couple of questions for us. As a start, would you mind introducing your band to our readers? Aspic from Magoyond (bass, keys): We're what we've called a "Monster Metal Band"! We sing (in French) about monsters, zombies and the end of the world. We like to mix heavy riffs with hudge orchestra to create cinematic metal! You've released a live video for your single “L'armée Damnée” back in September 2019. How was the show? Any pressure before going on stage? If yes, how do you manage it? Aspic: Actually, the videoclip of l’Armée Damnée is a mashup between four shows! The first is in the smallest Parisian Cabaret, « Le Zèbre de Belleville », the second one in Le Bascala (Toulouse). And the biggest one in Mons, Belgium, at the « Trolls & Légendes » festival. And there is even some footage from a show back in last December in Le Trianon, in Paris! Some of these venues were really big, so of course we were a bit thrilled to play in front of so many zombies… This is our personal army of the dead! But the response from the audience was amazing each time, so — as a personal statement — I’m not really anxious before going on stage. Apart from Magoyond, I have actually a lot of shows in classical and baroque music across France and Europe, as I’m a professional bassoon player!
From all the shows you've played in your life, is there one that has really marked your minds? If yes, which one was it and why? Aspic: For me, it was really at Le Trianon, in December ’
17. All the people in the audience were really here FOR us and for the Naheulband. Not for a festival venue or anything else. So the involvement of each guy in the pit was amazing, they knew absolutely ALL the lyrics and even rather obscure private joke from old audio making-of… You've also unveiled a reissue of your album “Pandemia”. Would you mind introducing this release to our readers? Aspic: As we are improving in sound mixing, playing our instruments and graphic works, we felt the need to « level-up » a bit the packaging of Pandemia to tune in with our newest release, « Kryptshow ». So we pimped up a bit the packaging, I did pinch of remastering on the songs, and… voilà! Which song is the one that, according to you, best represents the spirit of this record? Aspic: For me, without any kind of hesitation, I think that « Hector Zam » is the best song out of Pandemia. It represents all the story of this album : a rather normal guy being slowly turned into the king of zombies! And in Kryptshow, maybe it’s « Le Jour des Vivants » : the human kind has almost completely being wiped up from the earth, now ruled by many monsters, damned souls and zombies. And, once a year, the celebrate the day of the livings — and of course, it’s a trap.
The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey, here’s your chance! Aspic: You should definitly adopt a zombie; it's a terrible idea but it will give you endless (wink wink) fun!!
