Los Disidentes Del Sucio Motel talk about upcoming album, “Polaris”

Photo by Benjamin Hincker - Photographie Hello Los Disidentes Del Sucio Motel, thanks for your time. Would it be possible to introduce your band to our readers, as well as your roles in it? Almost 16 years of existence and evolution between stoner, progressive rock, and heavy metal riffings, we released 3 LPs and 4 EPs with the original line-up. We also recruited Katia for the 4th LP out very soon, to replace Baloo on bass guitar when he left the band 2 years ago. So we're still five members, composing and writing together. Daniel Scherding (lead singer and keyboard), Nicolas Foucaud (lead singer and guitar), Romain Reichhart (guitar), Grégory Hiltenbrand (drums) and Katia Jacob (backing vocalist and bass). With a worldwide pandemic going on, how have you handled the management of your band over the past few months? The album was mostly written before first lockdown, and we finished composing the vocals and arrangement with videoconferencing. We had the miraculous chance to plan all the studio recording sessions between two Covid containments, and since we continue to rehearse to prepare our future shows. We communicate very often with social media apps and manage our band life daily. Being myself from Strasbourg, I think we’re surrounded by some pretty cool bands. Are there any local bands you guys are currently listening to / we should keep an eye on? Yes, there are many good bands in many styles, we like and support: Thomas Schoeffler JR, Bad Juice, Dirty Deep, Iron Bastards, Joy & Glory. Warkunt, Ballerine, Shineski, Gamesdoglar, Vasgovie, Guisberg, Lullabies, Moyan, Icarus Last Dance, Lost Bastards... You've recently dropped your single, titled “Blood Planet Child”. What the story behind this song? The album is all about outer space, endless universe, and we human beings in the infinitely large and small. Blood Planet Child is the opening track of it, talking about the first human born on Mars and left alone with his own questionings, distorted relationships with his parents due to controversial sacrifices to achieve his birth. The current Nasa's Mars exploration program with the Perseverance launch is a nice coincidence with the release of our single, and vice versa! ;-) The single is taken from your upcoming album, “Polaris”, set for release on April 2nd. What kind of songs can we expect? Powerful, organic, straight and intense. The whole album has been recorded live, we all in the same room with all that rage and energy we can deliver even more while playing live, analog multitracked and written on magnetic tapes. We used a lot of old amps and pedals, keyboards like Juno, Moog, Mellotron and the final result is beyond our expectations, we are very proud of it. Any funny stories to share from your recording or writing sessions? You can hear Rémi Gettliffe as backing vocalist on every song. He is also the man who recorded and produced us, mister White Bat Recorders. As we recorded the “gang” voices all together, it was funny because he ran up and downstairs to launch the recorder at the upper floor, many times! It was sometimes difficult not to laugh seeing him falling into the recording room where we waited for him, and screamed many times around one microphone while smiling. Is there any way we can support your upcoming release by buying some merch or pre-ordering the album? Yes, we have a crowdfunding website currently where you can pre-order the album, CD or vinyl with a lot of other goodies you can choose like t-shirts, hat, fuzz guitar effect pedal, artwork, etc... or buying on Bandcamp later.

The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey, here’s your chance! Take care of your Planet, respect the health procedures and better days will come. Thanks everybody for your support, we’ll back on stage very soon! See you there!
