Introducing you to the 5 piece hardcore band, Thick Skin!

Picture: credit to the photographer Hello Thick Skin, thanks for your time. Would it be possible to introduce your band to our readers, as well as your roles in it? We’re a 5 piece Post Hardcore outfit from Leeds, UK. Our members are as follows: Jason Blackburn – Vocals Matty Maycroft – Bass Jordan Hill – Guitar Luke Hudson – Guitar Ben Morris – Drums How would you describe the music scene in Leeds? The music scene in Leeds is quite remarkable, there’s a little piece of every cake for anyone to enjoy. We’re blessed with some amazing venues such as The Key Club along with equally amazing promoters. There’s also an unbelievable amount of talented musicians in the city so anything you could ever wish to create is just a conversation away. Your new single “Medicine” is now available. What's the story behind this song? The song in itself has a couple of meanings throughout. It could quite easily send different messages to each individual listener, for me it’s about a personal experience that I won’t go into too much. How’s your usual writing process and where do you find your inspiration? I (Jason) will often sit at my computer for hours on end inputting little ideas until one inspires me enough to write an entire song around it. Once the song is done in demo form, we’ll head into the studio with our friend Grant Clayton and we’ll expand the idea, adding and changing parts as we go. It’s a fairly long process but it definitely pays off when you hear the original demo alongside the finished piece. You had to cancel your upcoming shows due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Are you guys going to try to reschedule them later this year? We will definitely be rescheduling everything we’ve had to pull.

Speaking of live shows. Best one you've done so far and why? December 2019 at The Key Club, Leeds w/ Beauty School. Beauty School are our best friends outside of music. We’re always together and we share so many memories growing up in the Leeds music scene. Any show we play with them will always rank highly in our favourite shows, and one in our hometown even more so. The last words are for you. If you have a message to convey, here’s your chance! It’s so obvious, but check out all our material on your streaming service of choice. With everything going on in the world at the moment, the music industry is at some sort of forced standstill. So now is the perfect moment to check out some smaller bands. You might just find your new favourite artist(s). Besides our music, please give some time to check out Beauty School, Covent, Decay, Coast to Coast, Modern Error and Lapyear. Peace. Thanks for your time!
