Forbidden Seasons: In the studio for ‘Promise’

“’Promise’ refers to all the promises made by people that are never fulfilled because of their selfishness,” proclaim Italian metalcore crew Forbidden Seasons, regarding the title of their recently released debut album. Available since March 16th, the album is melodically charged, beauty meeting darkness. Their sound indeed evokes Saosin and Underoath, Forbidden Seasons certainly are a promising prospect. The band are here to tell us more about how it all came together… “In February 2017, we were touring Russia with our debut EP Paramnesia. We were already obsessed by composing new songs, new ideas that came up in our minds. And we wanted to make them real. As soon as we came back to Italy, we decided to compose a new record. So we met with our mate Jaxon from Cry Excess and set up a plan. All the record was pre-recorded at our drummer Fede’s home, with just an iMac and a lot of patience; every Saturday we met and we recorded a piece of song, and during the week we were composing new stuff, drums, guitars and samples. When each song was ready, we went to HTR Studio and re-recorded it from the very beginning; we just kept the midi drum tracks and all of the samples, then we recorded bass and guitars. The songs didn’t have a title at the beginning, we used to recognize them by numbers (1-10); for example Thank You For The Venom was “song 5”, Wormhole was “song 3” and Gravity Fall was “song 1”, the first one we wrote indeed. The titles came when we started to think about vocals; Mark did a great job with lyrics, telling everything that came up to his mind and he wanted to talk about. Our producer Jaxon was very professional, we loved working with him at HTR Studio. Once vocals were written and recorded, he started a mixing process that lasted for weeks, and the final result was explosive! It’s been a very hard period, but we had a lot of fun creating these 10 songs; we put all of our ideas and influences together, combining melodic and heavy parts. We were able to create amazing refrains, performing a huge leap since our first EP Paramnesia. Everything was clear in our minds, we took care of every little detail, but what made the real difference was definitely the maturity of synths, strings and vocal lines. We’re so proud of this album, it is the highest point of our career and we couldn’t be happier; if you still don’t have your copy, you should definitely check the digital stores and get it!”
